Enigma’s 1994 hit "Return to Innocence" caused controversy for using a sampled vocal chant from Taiwanese indigenous Amis singers Difang and Igay Duana without permission or credit. The chant, actually a traditional "Elders' Drinking Song," was erroneously thought to be Native American. The singers sued, leading to an undisclosed settlement and receiving royalties.
